Awards

There are three types of Awards you can win at Tactical Paintball Games:
Medals, Badges and Ribbons.

Medals

Medals are won through superior performance on (and sometimes off) the field. Medals are bestowed upon players at the sole discretion of the head referee and are generally the hardest award to get. Medals are generally bestowed for exceptional performance over time and not for some specific event (with the exception of the Purple Heart). Some medals can only be won if the player has already won a specific previous award.

When you win a medal, you will likely also receive several hundred points in further recognition of your excellent performance. Medals convey the highest level of official recognition as a superior player in some aspect of the sport. Not all players will win medals and to win a medal is a great achievement.

Badges

There are two types of badges: "Challenge Badges" and "Duty Badges".

  • Challenge Badges are generally won through successfully completing a specific type of challenge. Challenges will be held periodically at the field during regular play days. When a challenge is announced as available, a limited number of challenge games will be scheduled. Challengers may accept the challenge on a first come first serve basis. A player may take only attempt one challenge per day. There are some exceptions to this (such as the Engineering Challenge Badges).

  • Duty Badges are won by performing an exceptional action on (or off) the field. So in some respects they are similar to medals, but are a little easier to get. The action which merits a Duty Badge may be witnessed by a referee, but may also be witnessed and corroborated by the opponent players. (For example in the case of the Bronze Close Quarters Combat Duty Badge, the player who was successfully mercy killed may corroborate the kill for the player to receive the badge).

Badge Grades

Each badge comes in three grades: "Bronze", "Silver" and "Gold". To win a Silver badge, the player must have already won the Bronze badge of that type. Likewise, to win the Gold Badge requires the Silver Badge. Bronze badges are challenging, but attainable for any player who strives for them. Winning Silver badges will pose a significant test for most expert players. Winning a Gold badge is very difficult and will pose a significant challenge for the best veteran players. Points awarded for badges are commensurate with their grade and range from a couple hundred to a couple thousand. Unlike Medals, most Badges can only be won once per player.

Ribbons

Ribbons are the easiest to get. Ribbons are awarded based on attendance and are automatically granted in most cases. Attending a certain number of ranked games throughout the year will automatically bestow "Tour of Duty" Ribbons. Attending a certain number of consecutive ranked games (without missing days) automatically bestows "Committed Service" Ribbons and are somewhat harder to get. Some ribbons are awarded for attendance at scenarios or a series of scenarios and you will have to present your dogtags from these games to get your Ribbon. Points awarded for Ribbons range from zero to a couple thousand. Unlike Medals, each type of Ribbon can only be won once per player.
